Academics
Albuquerque Academy is an independent, college preparatory day school for students in grades six through 12. The Academy prides itself on offering an educational program based on creative, independent doing and thinking. The school motto, “scientia ad faciendum,” or “knowledge for the sake of doing,” reflects an underlying philosophy of achieving knowledge that is actionable.
The Academy’s primary academic goals are:
- to encourage sound scholarship, independent thinking, and discriminating judgment;
- to teach analytical skills, including how to examine and evaluate large bodies of data;
- to teach students how to deal with concepts;
- to support and foster free inquiry.
Students are taught and guided in all aspects of the Academy educational program by caring and dedicated faculty and staff. The average class size is 15. More than 80% of the faculty have advanced degrees.

THREE DIVISIONS
Students at Albuquerque Academy are organized by grade into three divisions:
- Grades 6-7
- Grades 8-9
- Grades 10-12
These groupings allow for small, close-knit, and nurturing environments able to serve the needs and interests of all students. Each division provides students with a comfortable, supportive atmosphere in which to learn and thrive. The three divisions often work together, or in all-school assemblies and school-wide projects.
The 6-7 Division is located on the West Campus; the 8-9 and 10-12 Divisions are on the East Campus, about a five-minute walk from the West Campus.
